The Prairie Island Indian Community hosts their annual Pow Wow. Experience Native American history and traditions through these exciting competitions. Grand Entry performances begin the Pow Wow each day starting on Friday, July 9 at 7pm, Saturday, July 10 at 1pm and 7pm and Sunday, July 11 at 1pm. Grand Entry is a time to honor veterans and announce the different styles of dancers.
This event features dancers and drummers from all around the United States and Canada. The dancers are grouped by style and age, and they compete for cash prizes. The judging is based on creativity, keeping the beat and stopping at the right moment. In addition to the dancers and drummers, the Pow Wow offers delicious Native American food and crafts. There will be a wide array of Indian arts, handmade crafts and jewelry for sale as well as traditional Native American foods available all day during the Pow Wow.
Join in the pageantry and rich heritage of colorful apparel, breathtaking tribal dances and beautiful traditional songs. Come to watch, listen and feel Native American culture and history come alive.
