Writer's Workshop at the LeDuc Historic Estate

Bill McCarthy, poet & board member of ArtReach St. Croix, will be the guest speaker at Diane Saed's Writing Workshop on Tuesday, May 1, 6:30 p.m. at the LeDuc Historic Estate.  He will read his own poetry & some of the works of his favorite poets, discuss, and answer questions visitors may have about poetry and his writing process.  Bill sends this suggestion regarding his presentation, "Staying with the axiom of 'write what you know' I would suggest we focus on poetry that explores relationships.  Those relationship could be with family, friends, cat, dog, a mountain.  I plan to share a poem about my relationship with a bat that lives outside our front door.  Perhaps knowing that's the theme, it will get some creative juices going and influence what guests choose to share."  Bill recently received the news that two of his poems will be published by Savage Press of Superior, WI.  It is an anthology of writing about cancer and the proceeds from the sale of the book will go to the American Cancer Society.
