Take a step back in time and enjoy the splendor of the elegantly decorated Victorian LeDuc Historic Estate, 1629 Vermillion Street, Hastings, during the first two Saturdays and Sundays in the month of December. Regular tours are at 10 & 11:30 a.m., 1, 2:30 & 4 p.m. and will take place on December 5-6 and 12-13 at regular rates. The 4 p.m. tour on Sunday, December 13 will be available only to dinner guests. The museum store will be open for shopping where guests will find gifts to purchase for their friends and relatives who have discriminating taste. Should large groups like to book a visit, please call ahead @ 651-437-7055 to ensure that there will be a sufficient number of tour guides on hand.
A 4-course Victorian Holiday Dinner on December 13, 5-9 p.m., will be an event for creating beautiful memories. As guests enter they will be served a glass of complimentary wine and finger sandwiches. The courses are:
- First Course - Minnesota Wild Rice Cakes with an apple cider cranberry chutney & toasted almonds
- Second Course - Country style French onion soup topped with bread crustini & Gruyere cheese
- Third Course - Wild mushroom beef medallions & turkey roulade with dried cherry bread stuffing with a pan glaze, mashed potatoes, & a roasted beet, carrot & pearl onion medley
- Fourth Course - Cranberry cake with hot butter sauce
Tea and coffee will be available throughout the evening.
Guests will be greeted by people in Victorian dress and first-rate entertainment will be provided. Pat Bauer & David Geister (artists & authors) who have often played the roles of Mary & William LeDuc will be on hand to do readings that relate to the times when the LeDucs were residents of this gracious home. Musical accompaniment will be provided by Don & Sherry Ladig on flute and piano. The Ladigs play in several traditional folk bands including Dunquin, Night Scotsman, and The New Pearl Button Players.
