    POSITION TITLE:           Custodian, 12:30pm - 8:30 PM, Monday thru Friday
     
    LOCATION:                     Hastings High School
     
    FLSA:                              Non-exempt
     
    QUALIFICATIONS:                         

    • High School diploma or G.E.D. 
    • Ability to perform the essential job functions
    • Effective interpersonal skills
    • Effective grooming skills
    • Ability to lift 55 pounds to shoulder height occasionally
    • Ability to push / pull a minimum of 20 pounds frequently
    • Upon hire-Special Class Boilers license is preferred or must be obtained within 9 months of hire. 
    REPORTS TO:  Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds, Lead Custodian and Building Principal.
     
    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
    • Sanitizes and cleans restrooms in accordance with assignments and cleaning schedules.
    • Scrubs and sanitizes sinks, countertops, door handles, faucets, toilet flush handles, soap, and paper dispenser handles.
    • Cleans, polishes and rinses chrome fixtures.
    • Cleans and sanitizes toilet stools and urinals and makes sure they are operating properly.
    • Cleans mirrors and window ledges.
    • Scrubs and sanitizes restroom floors.
    • Refills paper goods, soap dispensers and sprays deodorizers
    • Provides cleaning services for classrooms, offices, cafeteria, kitchens, hallways, locker rooms, gymnasium, and all areas required in school building.
    • Sweeps, vacuums or mops floors and hallways daily. Cleans hallways, entryways, restrooms, locker rooms classrooms or cafeteria.
    • Dust mops or wet mops rooms and floors and classrooms, as necessary.
    • Empties waste baskets and recycle baskets.
    • Scrubs soap and towel dispensers, countertops and walls.
    • Collects trash including milk cartons and cleans milk carton bins.
    • Sanitizes countertops, sink, chairs, and desks.
    • Cleans glass windows on doors daily.
    • Cleans gymnasium(s).
    • Vacuums carpets and entry mats.
    • Cleans and disinfects spills and stains as required.
    • Cleans hallways, entryways, restrooms, locker rooms, classrooms or cafeteria.
    • Strips, mops, waxes, buffs and cleans floors.
    • Secures and/or opens building. Shuts off lights, closes windows, locks doors, sets building alarms, as assigned.
    • Assists with the set up and take down of equipment and materials needed for scheduling building activities, meetings, events or functions within the building. Provides assistance in unloading deliveries and/or food items to the building and in moving desks, furniture, and equipment within the building, as assigned.
    • Sets up tables and chairs for breakfast and lunch. Checks and fills milk coolers. Cleans tables, floors and stores tables/chairs after breakfast meal times.
    • Sets up cleaning cart before shift begins with paper products and cleaning supplies.
    • Participates in extensive summer cleaning schedules, routines and projects in building preparations for the new year.
    • Removes furniture from all classrooms; cleans sinks; washes walls and windows; strips and seal waxes floors.
    • Shampoos all carpets.
    • Paints lockers and classrooms.
    • Performs general maintenance activities within the building, as assigned.
    • Assists the building lead in monitoring boiler operations, if needed.
    • Performs other duties of a comparable level or type, as required.  
    ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
    1. Maintain a professional relationship with students, faculty, administration and community patrons.
    2. Submit all data and information as requested.
    3. Regularly monitor district email for pertinent communication.
    4. Attend meetings as scheduled by supervisors and District Administrators.
    5. Complete requested paperwork.
    6. Ability to obtain a Special Engineer’s License within the first 9 months of employment.
    Starting Rate of Pay: $22.44 per hour + potential licensure pay per the 24-26 master agreement
